A True Love Story: Amanda and Adam

You might recognize Amanda Eades as the winner of My Inspired Wedding’s second Apple iPad Giveaway. When we contacted Amanda and learned a little bit about her and her love story with fiancee Adam, well… we just couldn’t resist sharing her fairy tale with all of you.

You know when you read things that say, “She married her childhood sweetheart” and you think aaawww. Well any future bios of Amanda and Adam will surely include that phrase. Amanda and Adam started dating 10 years ago, but that wasn’t really the beginning of the story. “We were each other’s first crushes at 10 and 12 years old!” says Amanda.

The pair later became good friends when Amanda was 17, and began dating seriously about a year later. A year after that, Adam presented Amanda with a promise ring. Which is why, about 8 years ago, she felt comfortable buying her dream wedding dress when she spotted it, even though she knew a wedding was a long way off.

She describes the dress as fitted up top and adorned with pearls and a kind of Cinderella silhouette, and she balks at giving it up for a newer or trendier dress. “When I saw it eight years ago, I said ‘This is the dress I’m going to marry Adam in,’” she says. “And even though my grandparents, who raised me, have passed away and Adam’s dad passed away, they got to see my wedding dress. That makes it so special to us.”

Even though they’ve been dating for a long time, and she’s been wearing that promise ring, Adam’s proposal on Christmas Eve in 2010 was a surprise to Amanda. Adam’s mother visited for their annual Christmas ornament exchange and Adam handed Amanda the ornament with the ring inside. She was so busy chatting for five minutes she didn’t notice – until she saw tears in her future mother-in-laws eyes. “I had no clue,” Amanda says. “Adam told me he had the ring for two months, but he wanted to wait for Christmas and when his mother was there. It was perfect.”

Now Amanda and and Adam are in the midst of wedding planning for their March 31, 2012 wedding. Amanda says the planning has been pretty stress free so far, but she’s elated to win an iPad to help with the final details like uploading songs for the DJ and booking the events for her honeymoon. “My future mother-in-law gave us a honeymoon to Las Vegas! We’re going on helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon for a champagne lunch and we’re flying over the Hoover Dam. I can’t wait!”

And Amanda can’t wait for her wedding, but she knows that she already has what’s most important. When her friends ask her for relationship advice, she finds herself at a bit of a loss. “I know it hasn’t been perfect,” she says. “But it’s been pretty darn close!”

We’re sure it hasn’t been perfect either, because what is really? But Amanda and Adam have the foundation, the love, not to mention the romantic love story, to launch a wonderful partnership. Amanda puts it best: “I didn’t have the best childhood, but my life really started when I met Adam. I couldn’t live without him.”
