Wedding Invitations Sundays: 2013 Wedding Invitation Trends
Looking for some wedding invitation trend inspiration, bride-to-be? More than simply providing the logistical details of your wedding ceremony and reception, your wedding invitations are sent out to offer guests a preview of your big day! Brides today are no longer choosing to simply walk into a stationer’s office and walk out with invitations in hand; instead choosing stylized photo-journalistic invitations that express your love story, playful polka dotted patterns, or any of the many 2013 wedding invitation trends listed below!
The Huffington Post put together a blog with helpful tips from Toronto stationer Megan Wappel, who noted the following as some of the hottest 2013 wedding invitation trends. “The homemade, yet polished, rustic look is still very big — think birds, burlap, kraft paper, garden chic. Incorporating paint as well as graphic design — watercolor papers and floral gouache designs, for example — is also a big trend because it gives that handmade feel. Geometric stationery with big bold sans serif fonts and blocks of color is also on the rise. Letterpress stationery is making a massive comeback, as is laser-cut detailing. You can dye the edges of letterpress paper in different colors and letterpress allows designs to be pressed with metallic foiling, which adds such an amazing touch. Couples have really taken notice of how important the fonts are when trying to establish a theme. The script font has really made it’s way out this year, as new “hip” elegant fonts have come into the limelight.”
Splash watercolor washes and or include a digital floral prints on your wedding invitation! Poppies, irises, and roses are all beautiful choices for a wedding invitation and can be easily customized with your wedding colors or with seasonal colors.
Touch of Lace
We’ve spoken about lace as a mainstay for wedding dresses, wedding decor, and a beautiful mix-in or tie for wedding flowers. With varieties including Irish Crochet or Venetian Point, review a list of lace types and speak with your stationer about replicating the look as an accent or full-page look on your wedding invitations.
Great art never goes out of style, soon-to-be Mrs., and folk art-inspired wedding invitations are back by popular demand! The leading invitation company featuring this invitation style is Rifle Paper Co., who offers whimsical designs via a hand-painted look.
